Virtual Reality Boutique is an online shopping app that carries more than 250 retail brands for the customer to shop from. More importantly, the app will have the main feature called Virtual Dress Up, where customers will be able to try on clothing items on a 3D avatar that has the same body measurements as them. The virtual dress-up feature allows the customer to pick the right size without having to guess whether it will fit them or not. This type of feature elevates the online shopping experience and changes the way people shop online. The new virtual reality feature of the app is a refreshing way for brands to engage with consumers. Another feature that’s included in the app is a world map that reveals trends around the world. Pick a country and read on the current trends and receive styling tips from stylists and fashion bloggers. In the end, VR Boutique creates a personalized virtual store where a customer could choose, try on, and buy products.

Project Concept

Proto-Persona

For my user research, I conducted testing of my prototype through TryMyUI. I gathered six participants that ranged from the ages of 19 – 35 years old. All the participants that took part in testing my prototype. During the testing of the prototype, participants were given tasks to complete. After completing each task, participants were required to rate it on a scale of 7 (very easy) to 1 (very difficult).

Here’s what I have learned and collected from my research:

Pros:

  • The app has an organized layout.

  • Sophisticated color palette.

  • The app is easy to navigate.

Cons:

  • The images were pixelated.

  • Few features were difficult to find and not very accessible.

  • Improvements in creating tasks.

Usability Research Report

High-Fidelity Designs

Interactive Prototype

  1. What did I find most challenging about this project? During this project, I found designing an interface for Android devices to be challenging. Throughout my whole life, I have been a constant user of IOS devices. Following and learning about the design guidelines for Android devices has been a challenge but I have learned so much throughout this whole project. I designed my user interfaces using Invision. I also had the difficulty of thinking like the user and having to understand their needs and wants. Conducting usability research has helped me think like the user because I was able to get constructive feedback.

  2. What was the most valuable lesson I learned? The most valuable lesson I learned was the importance of constructive feedback. Through the usability research report, I was able to receive feedback on my designs and reflect on it. Through the usability report, I was able to grow and learn from my own mistakes. I am very content with how much I have accomplished in this class and throughout this project.
