Timeline of Delivery

The goal of this Inclusive Design Project is to define, design, and demonstrate an inclusive digital experience. The inclusive design experience should improve the human experience and decrease the barriers to trust, use, and participation of computer interfaces. The project focuses on raising the quality of traditional digital design work from the perspective of users that have a multitude of abilities.

Project Brief

Inclusive design is the design of a product or service that is accessible for people all abilities regardless of age, disability, and other factors. Inclusive design strives to put the concern of the user experience first and foremost when making design decisions. Inclusive design is very important because it ensures that people, regardless of their situation and abilities, won’t be discriminated against or be prevented from using a certain product or service a company provides.

Product Press Release

Our group's design feedback was collected during the salon-style critiques. Suggestions included taking off certain buttons that had no function and it confused the user even more like the home button and skips buttons. Another suggestion was to include more visuals into the kiosk such as icons for different protein options and colored buttons for different temperatures. So that people can instantly recognize regardless of their language ability. Another suggestion for our prototype was to make the guidance step-by-step tutorial slower so users can read it easily and incorporate arrows on each side so the user is able to go back and forth.

Further recommendations included adding in a button function where users are able to just make a donation without having to buy a meal. We also need to take into consideration a way for people to buy multiple meals at once with having to buy one at a time because it allows families to buy hot meals.

Design Feedback

In this project, we wanted to design a product that not only provides convenient hot meals but also gives back to the community and those in need. Nowadays, people are burdened with so many responsibilities and are busier now than before which leaves them with little to no time to enjoy life. After a long day at work, people just want to eat a hot meal and spend time with their families and friends, not drive all over the place running errands. Our other main customers will be those in need and in difficult financial situations. By locating the kiosks in convenient locations such as outdoors, anyone is able to walk up and use it. So people in need don't have to feel the pressure and judgments in order to obtain food. LILI Kiosk provides a convenient and simple way to get hot meals without having to wait in restaurants and helping people in need directly.

Demonstration Video

  1. What did I find most challenging about this project? During this project, I found designing an interface for Android devices to be challenging. Throughout my whole life, I have been a constant user of IOS devices. Following and learning about the design guidelines for Android devices has been a challenge but I have learned so much throughout this whole project. I designed my user interfaces using Invision. I also had the difficulty of thinking like the user and having to understand their needs and wants. Conducting usability research has helped me think like the user because I was able to get constructive feedback.

  2. What was the most valuable lesson I learned? The most valuable lesson I learned was the importance of constructive feedback. Through the usability research report, I was able to receive feedback on my designs and reflect on it. Through the usability report, I was able to grow and learn from my own mistakes. I am very content with how much I have accomplished in this class and throughout this project.
